Dream Crushed because of Stuttering Just a little vent here… For a while now, my dream job was to work as an ASL interpreter. I love the deaf community, interacting using sign, and interpreting would’ve been a job I would truly love. However, I have moderate to severe stuttering issues since a very young age, and has greatly impacted my self-confidence, and because of that, I know I’m not able to do the job, as I would be required to speak what the deaf client is signing. I would be able to only SIGN to the deaf client, but not speak using my voice. My dream job is in the trash now. Now I’m graduated, I have another degree that doesn’t have to do anything with sign language. It’s a degree that most people would say is very impressive to get, because it is, but I don’t feel ready… and I feel unmotivated, and sad… it’s not for me. And now I don’t know what to do. 😕
