Think of all the kinds of activities that goes into being human and all that. Not all of it involves speaking. So, I'd say we can still be plenty "normal" for all the rest of it. But really, that doesn't say a lot about how or what humans in general are. Lots of people have things they do or don't do that is different from what they (or others) consider "normal". Those views - what's normal, what's not normal - always change, so it's not terribly useful to fixate on them. We can only be the sorts of things we are right now, and then we can see if maybe we can be in other ways at other times. Don't convince yourself you're never going to be in the ways you want to be - figure out instead what you can work towards or where you're comfortable, and start from there. "Normal" shouldn't really be any of our concern. It can be very limiting.
