Back in boarding school, one of the junior most class boys had to read the news in the morning assembly. It was my second turn of the year (first time went great). Went up to the rostrum and couldn't get a word out of my mouth (always get stuck with the vowels) Somehow... I started with "Honorable Headmaster" and pointed at him because that's how it was supposed to be read; Headmaster sent me back because he thought I was taking the piss. Went back to stand with my housemates, tears streaming down my face, feeling like shit, Headmaster called me into his office after the assembly and asked me WTF?? I tried to explain what happened but he wasn't having any of it because my stammer was never this bad before that incident. After that, it was just 4 years of being scared of even speaking on the phone. Uni helped thank God. Now, I've argued cases in front of judges and a High Court judge. All of that is behind me. That morning was pretty shit, but yeah it was a learning experience.
