If you can find a job making 1470 a month, you are considered gainfully employed and do not qualify for diability. That's about 17k. Which is very little in US and you can not live alone on that. So yes if you are able to work a menial job, you can not get disability. And another criteria: "Your condition must significantly limit your ability to do basic work-related activities, such as lifting, standing, walking, sitting, or remembering – for at least 12 months. If it does not, we will find that you do not have a qualifying disability."
