The only example I can think of that isn’t treated as a joke is Bill from Stephen King’s IT. Stuttering gets so little attention and because of that, I think a lot of people see it as something to make fun of. No matter how many times I see a stuttering character being treated as a joke, it’s always uncomfortable to watch.
