I was profoundly moved by the evening at camp following “buddy day”, where younger campers are paired up With older campers and they spend the day getting to know each other and doing camp activities. At the end of that day there was a 2 1/2 or three hour event where a microphone was made available to the entire camp and with 150 campers watching on any pair of buddies that wanted to you could come up, take the microphone, and speak about getting to know each other and what the day has felt like. The vulnerability, openness, courage on display that night as Buddy after Buddy after Buddy came up and spoke openly, and were given the space to speak and be heard, still gives me goosebumps.
