I'm a support worker for adults with learning disabilities. I never set out to do this work, but I've been doing it for 15 years now and it's worked out pretty well for me. I help care for all kinds of adults with additional needs, and as it would go, they're likely the most unjudgemental people in the world. My mam also stutters and she's worked in retail for the last 30 years. She's about 95% fluent now, and she always attests her fluency to having to work with the public. She says it was mega scary at first, but the more she did it and pushed herself, the more confident and fluent she became.
