I mean, way more of my family members don't stutter than do, so I don't know how that would work if you mean like being around a stutterer makes you stutter. Like my grandad's own dad stuttered but he died when my grandad was still little and he never really knew him, and my grandad didn't grow up with any family members that stuttered. Only a couple of his kids stuttered (like my dad) and they grew out of it. It wasn't until I came along that there was another really severe stutterer in the family. Who knows really. It's pretty widely accepted that there's some genetic component to stuttering even though we don't know what it is. Can't believe with everything else that's been discovered we're still wondering about this.
