Hey man, I hope things get better for you. I know they will. I developed my stutter at age 12 and prior to that I was very outgoing, talkative, and really a great speaker. I did some spots for my school on local radio even. It was like my world came crashing down. As a stutterer you are probably a great listener, and likely come across as being quite empathetic. This comes in handy in conversation because people love to talk about themselves. I consider myself a fairly good conversationalist. My wife claims I’ll start a conversation with a wall lol. I just ask a ton of questions and let people go. If it’s someone you see every now and then try to remember some detail about them and ask about that. You’ll find common interests this way and make the conversation easier. Ask open ended questions rather than ones that can be answered with a yes or no. I look at a conversation as a way to learn something about someone. I don’t know if that’s helpful to you or not but it’s the strategy I use.
