Has Tech helped or hindered persons who stutter?

Has Tech helped or hindered persons who stutter? I'm 46M and I avoid making phone calls like the plague! I've come up with ways to get around the call, but always feel like a little more of my soul has died and I get down on myself. These paths usually involve sending a text or email to reply to a voicemail, even if they requested a call back. In thinking about this today, I wonder if these communication technologies have helped or hindered me as a person who stutters.
