Its the little things... Got a haircut today and the total came to $13.99. When she asked "do you want to close the check at this amount" I felt like a $2.00 tip seemed appropriate. However, I could feel that "sixteen" was not going to come out. After another mental check "seventeen" was also not an option. Welp, a $4.00 tip for a $14.00 haircut it is. This is the small stuff that really annoys me about my stutter. Have major blocks throughout a presentation at work/school? The people who matter (boss/teacher) honestly dont care. Someone makes a joke when you are introducing yourself? You learned the person is an asshole and not worth talking to anyway. The big stuff is easy to handle. But having to pay a stutter tax is not worth bringing up to most people because it sounds so minor and comes off as (at least i feel they see it as) whining. Its in the same boat as ordering a Coke even though you really wanted a rrrRRRRRrroot beer.
