In my opinion, I think that there are differences in societal/environmental pressure. Generally, male traits could reflect greater levels of being more: * **active**: leading to more responsivity or hypervigilance * **dominant**: leading to prioritizing controlled speech over natural subconscious speech * **aggressive**: leading to forcing a stutter or fighting against their defensive mechanism * **emotional suppressed**: leading to bottling up emotions * **logical and analytical**: leading to overthinking or worrying about speech performance (or listener's reactions) * **rational or realistic**: leading to an increase in pressure due to heightened expectations * **perfectionistic**: leading to (1) an increase in social expectations to exhibit confidence, protectiveness, sociability, assertiveness, or independence, (2) the need to speak more perfect or error-free implicating the defensive mechanisms that filters (feared) words for release.. so it's kind of a **panic response** to perceived obstacles
