Story: I had a patient laughed at my stutter My stutter is usually subtle, but I've been stressed lately so my stutter is coming out more. I was explaining something to a patient in clinic earlier this week and I got stuck on a word in the middle of a sentence. I was about to just push on through and keep talking, but I noticed my patient react and chuckle (under his mask). I started my abreviated spiel that I say to "label" my stutter, but before I had the chance to move the conversation forward, the patient told me "No, no, I was just laughing because I sometimes have trouble with my words, too."
