Scheduling an Appointment Over the Phone

Scheduling an Appointment Over the Phone Hey All, I had to use the phone this morning to schedule a doctors appointment and I figured I would share my experience. To provide some context, I recently moved to a new town which is pretty far away from my old primary care doctor. Unfortunately, this meant that I would have to go through the entire registration process with a new office (ugh). Normally I am fine with phone calls that aren't "scheduled" and/or I know the other person on the other line. Since this call was planned in advance, my mind had plenty of time to work itself up and think of all possible ways I could screw up. Anyways, the person from the doctors office called and I answered the phone with a delayed "Hello". She introduced herself and asked if I had time to speak, and I replied with a very reluctant "Sure". The first step was for her to check my insurance information to make sure everything was in order. She asked me to read my ID number, which of course begins with a letter that I block on (the letter O). After what seemed like an eternity, I manage to get the words out and read the remainder of my ID. After she checked my insurance info she told me that the process would take another 15 minutes, but by that point I was nervous and somewhat out of breath. I chickened out and told her that I had to run back to work, so instead of completing the registration right then and there, I now have to call on my own time (and made things THAT much harder on myself). Thus the life of a stutterer... Apologies for the long story, but I'm hoping some of you can offer any advice. Thanks!
