I’m pretty new to this reddit, but maybe I can help you or anybody else writing this. Before you’re going to focus on the online jobs option I want to speak out about the job search. I do know it really depends on the job you want, but in general here are my tips as a stuttering employer (which also makes me see things from the other side) Some tips to make the best application letter possible: - Make sure you tell them upfront about your stuttering, but blow them away with the rest of the message. - I would use humor like opening my letter with my name is W-W-William or that when you get invited you’ll probably need half an hour extra for the interview haha. - All employers want reliable staff that deliver solid work for the longest time possible. Use it in your advantage that it’s hard to find a job with your stutter, and explain when you get the job you’ll be the most loyal employee for a long time because of this. You wont be switching jobs as fast as others do. - Focus on your skills and experience, and make sure it will feel that they will miss out a great employee if they don’t work with you. - Make sure to get some elephants out of the room and already mention some of the work tasks they want you to do and how you’ll handle it, even with a stutter. An employer could be scared not knowing how situation will be with your stutter so reassure them. Tell them stuttering wont make the work you do less good. Make sure to address that you can understand their doubts and that you’re happy to answer any questions about it. - If they don’t want to invite you for an interview with such a letter then f*ck them and try the same at another job application. It’s a good thing to know you did your best. Writing such a letter will probably make you less nervous if you get invited. They already know who they are inviting, that stuttering is part of your life and that they can expect things to work out with you and your stutter. For the interview I would also use humor and self spot. Also start with speaking out about your stutter again and that you’re a bit more nervous and thank them for understanding. With the preparation of a great application letter and having this opening for the interview the rest will be much easier! In preparation of the interview you could do some small meditation to make sure you’re body is as relaxed as possible (all small things help). Focus on relaxation with breathing exercises, but also focus on happy and positive feelings like you already got the job and are super happy to start! You can already imagine yourself working there with a big smile! Hopefully I’ve got to help you or somebody else with this message. If somebody has more questions let me know! In the end you can also start your own (online) business like i did and make sure you get the right people to speak for you, but it will take time…
