IDK how old you are, but I didn't get fluent until I went back to speech therapy in my mid 20s. For me, speech therapy wasn't learning things to remember. It was a relearning of speaking from the ground up. Say there were a dozen stages along the way. You didn't use any of them intermediate steps outside of therapy. It wasn't until you had learned to speak fluently that you began using your fluency outside of the therapy environment. (And of course practicing daily in private.)
