There are a few psychiatrists especialized in stuttering, but the majority isn't and don't know what they can prescribe because there isn't an specific protocol for stuttering apart from speech therapy If you are sure that you have tried enough of the "healthy side" I recommend you to research a lot about the brain chemistry of stuttering and about current experimental treatments (with drugs) and past and current trials. You can sign up for a trial, or get a psychiatrist and tell him the drug you want to try, so he can prescribe it to you if he's a bit open minded and is willing to help. If you are lucky you can also find a good psychiatrist that knows about the chemistry of stuttering, and will prescribe you something without even asking for it if you say that you already tried a lot of speech therapy. Anyway you should research on your own no matter what, so if the drug prescribed isn't effective, you can discuss alternatives with your psychiatrist (yes, stuttering is complicated even for psychiatrists)
