Everyone who speaks occasionally stutterers. Unless they have advanced training in dysfluency, how would they know that your version is so significantly worse?? Especially if the stutterer is *covert* and is able to effectively hide it from the world? The “ignorance” of the general population has nothing to do with lack of intelligence, education or empathy/sympathy. I believe learning this goes a very long way *reducing the negative impact stuttering has on the stutterer*
