I work in tech and it definitely does. But it depends from case to case. My stutter is very severe and I've just given up on talking and just write everything to communicate. Due to this I've been skipped for a couple of bigger projects, have worked under people in a junior position than me etc. All well though. We have a PM who also stutters visibly, but its mild. He's able to successfully lead a team and takes on a lot of responsibilities.
