Deliberate disfluency is exaggerating stuttering on purpose. And disclosure is openly and directly telling people that you stutter. This is to create ease in the listener and yourself. And to create confidence by attacking the fear of stuttering before it finds you! I meant to say “self-actualization” (not “self-realization”) is basically the process of showing the outside world the parts of you that you hide, but that is your truth. Such as your personality, interests, power, confidence, and most importantly, showing people that you stutter so it isn’t just an internal experience, but something that people see in the open. Approach avoidance conflicts are basically any two competing intentions that take a mental tole on your mind, and ultimately create tension in your body. The desire to speak vs. the desire to not speak to avoid stuttering, is usually our biggest one as people that stutter. But they exist everywhere in our life, and exist in every human’s life. It’s just that approach-avoidance conflicts have a bigger effect on people that stutter. Competing intentions cancel each other out, which lead to canceled speech (blocks). You will figure out more if you read the books I mentioned above!
