I've had this experience. When I run into someone I haven't seen in years on a good day where I'm not stuttering as much sometimes they'll say "you don't stutter anymore! it used to be so cute when you did" and I'm always like bitch it's still there and don't you call it cute, I hate that shit lol. I am more fluent with strangers and when I've been in speech therapy before I don't stutter much (at least at the beginning when I don't know them very well) and I sometimes have to explain that I really do stutter and it's v frustrating! as if they think I'm there just for fun ahhah
