Anyone else had an experience like this? Someone brought attention to my stutter and it actually made me start to feel proud. I was out traveling/working with some friends and we had a late night where the conversation went to the nicknames we would give each other. It was funny, friendly ribbing, and my friend said he would call me "Sizzle" because of all the extra sizzle I have when I talk (I've always had long S's). We laughed and moved on. It took a minute, but it soon hit me what a significant moment that was, because I didn't get defensive, I didn't hate that my stutter was being talked about, I didn't get that heaviness in my chest... He put it in a way that felt sweet and it made me feel unique. Special, even. I try to remember that moment during my weaker days.
