It might not be as bad as diabetes, I'll agree with you there. But it is debilitating and exhausting. Just about every job, for instance, requires socializing. When I can't speak the way I want to and it takes longer than everyone else to form a sentence, it's humiliating and makes me look/feel less intelligent than I actually am. It's also contributed to depression for me, and makes phone calls and meeting people challenging. So yes, I think having acommodations or at the very least, more education around stuttering would help me and many others a lot.
