I also had a peak of stuttering in university. So many new things, plus this age when you are supposed to develop and show yourself to the world. We had to obligatory and voluntarily answer on seminar classes (didn’t answer enough times - didn’t get graded) so I was always stressed out I will not pass even when I studied well. Once when I was presenting my course paper, I stuttered through literally every word, was absolutely ashamed of myself, eventually stopped and told my supervisor I will not say a word anymore. I wish there would be more awareness of stuttering in academic circles. Maybe some alternative ways of getting grades (written instead of oral, skipping presentations while doing something else etc) All this “exposure” is supposed to make you handle things better, for me, it made it worse. I got 2 degrees nevertheless. So you can and will get out of this. The question is how traumatized. Antidepressants helped me with anxiety and for me it affects fluency. I wish I started them at my studying years.
