I'm definitely more comfortable in English. I've lived in the U.S. for 19 years and France for 7. I have been told that by relatives that my voice changes when I speak French vs English though. But maybe you're on to something with being more comfortable. I mostly speak French to my family, while I speak English to friends or people around me.
