My stutter is mild and random. I have good days where I can talk and bad days where I can’t get a word out. I stutter on lots of letters and sounds. I would say you should put the character in situations where she has to talk. Where she has to stutter. How does she feel and react? Does she feel shame, embarrassment, nothing at all, or any other emotions? You can get the reader to empathize with her that way. Her view on her stutter could depend on where she’s at in life. If she’s in school, where other students can be judge mental, she could see her stutter as a curse because she can’t fit in. If she’s in the adult world, where people are generally more accepting and don’t care about the stutter, she could be more accepting of it. I’m also a writer and want to write a book about someone who stutters, but I haven’t worked out all the details yet. We need more books like this on the market so good luck to you.
