I’m with you there, I seem to notice a lot of people that talk to me about stutterers they know are often people who aren’t necessarily stutterers. Not saying they’re all lying in the slightest but I don’t think many people understand it all that well. Like they knew a kid who stuttered as a child and it went away, or they knew someone who stuttered when they were nervous and stuff like that, I get asked the “is it a nervous/stress thing?” question A LOT. I’ve noticed the general public just don’t really get it and that’s probably because it was never really important for them to know?
