> Hey man can you break down that last question in simple words Last question: "*How can PWS stop justifying conditional or situational reasons for overt execution, and instead, justify unconditional reasons that apply to any situation, anywhere, with any person, and at any time?*" **Explanation:** In my opinion: People who stutter (PWS) have linked triggers to inhibiting execution of speech plans (aka stuttering). For example, we have linked "confidence" to making it easier for ourselves to execute speech motor programs (association) (conditioned response). But, to non-stutterer's, this might appear perplexing or downright bizarre. A non-stutterer wouldn't make it more easy or difficult for himself to execute speech movements under certain conditions or in certain situations, because for them it makes more sense to not add filters or limiters to speech performance. Instead, non-stutterers have simply learned to allow or justify: "executing speech motor plans", in any situation (aka unconditional demand). If I would formulate one such demand, it would be: "I require the belief that I'm truly alone, in order to make it easier to execute speech motor plans". \[conditional demand\] Conclusion: So, even if they don't feel confident, even if they aren't alone, even if there is or isn't a lot of background noise, even if they don't trust people, even if they speak with strangers, authority figures or with people that are judging us - they still decide to execute speech motor plans anyway (despite not meeting all these conditional or situational demands, that I just now listed). If I would formulate a non-stutterer or unconditional demand, it could look like: "I execute speech motor plans immediately and anywhere, whenever I choose to do so, and, without waiting out certain conditions, without speech techniques or without relying on interventions." \[unconditional demand\] This way the underlying impaired demand won't disrupt the speech initiation process. I argue that adults who stutter likely have developed 100s of subconscious conditional demands for overt execution. Additionally, I think that the longer we live with a stutter disorder, the more conditional/situational demands we create (and impose upon ourselves), turning into something like multiple threads weaving together into a knot or forming a complex web, making it more difficult to completely recover from stuttering or achieve subconscious fluency.
