I suggest you read a piece I wrote up a while back that delved into acceptance. Acceptance is difficult, but most people say "Yea, I've accepted my stutter" but still thrive for fluency, and still expect fluency in most cases. Acceptance isn't defeat. Just remember that, it's actually beating your stutter in some sense. You gain control over your life, rather than your stutter gaining control over it. That's faaaar from defeat.
