You got a bad therapist, one who should be reported to the national Speech Language Pathology board because she has no business being a SLP. My experiences were all positive (from 2nd grade through college). All the SLPs I’ve worked with were dedicated and caring individuals who I felt were dedicated to helping people with disfluency. Google SLPs in your area and find a good one. The one technique that helps me is (and I forget the technical term) slightly elongating the first sound and “easing into words/phrases.” My fluency is definitely day-to-day, and bad days still pop up, but this technique helps more than the others I was taught.
