Amen. Took a job in a pizza restaurant and I constantly ask my manager to put me on the start of the line as often as possible. I need to ask a lot of things, say their names, explain things to.peolle further down the line. It hasn't necessarily helped and yeah I get a few nasty customers (their problem imo) it's worth it knowing I didn't hide away at the back of house washing dishes to avoid people! Feels really good. I'm also on long shifts, sometimes 10 hours, but I love doing it. I found myself being loads more confident the last year (maybe even couple), I engage in conversation with strangers and have banter with people I don't even know! It feels really nice. Glad to hear other stammerers are doing the same. Update: I disagree with the fact that you're being too aggressive, but that's ok everyone has opinions and I respect that. I just share the opinion that we shouldn't hide away *just* because of our stammer. Yeah it's shit having it and everything and there are moments where I really hate it. But we are humans, we need to have jobs (most of which require speaking) and we need to own it for once. If a customer at my work laughs in my face because I struggled to ask him if he wanted marinara sauce. Your fucking problem mate! Takes longer for you to get your pizza!
