Two things can be true at the same time 1. It hurts like hell. 2. If we haven’t disclosed in some way, it’s not their fault, or evidence they are laughing at our “disability”/difference. Now, if we have told them with enough specific details (sometimes I repeat, pause, blink a lot, etc) and they still laugh, SCREW THEM. Also, each time this happens, it can reinforce the idea that your stutter is shameful and you should work even harder to overcome it. Unfortunately, for many PWS without enough knowledge about our dysfluency, “work harder” is often literally THE thing that causes hard blocks. There are ways to work harder that will *decrease blocks* and lead to more enjoyable speaking
