In my school in every class they'd read out your names and you'd have to say 'present' which was a already a difficult word for me but made especially hard as it wasn't in a sentence. Every time half the class would turn to look at me when they knew my name was coming up and laugh when I inevitably struggled. I eventually started to refuse to go into school, luckily my mum got it out of me what happened and spoke to the school (luckily they were understanding) and we longer had to call out our names, he teacher would do mark us present by looking at us. It really helped me. I also remember being in a group project and wanting to challenge myself by reading out part of it (my stutter is noticeable but im still fairly fluent) and this little prick of a boy said 'no offence but you st st st stutter' it's been 10 years and I still think about it. Kids can be cruel but life does improve after school!
