Agree, but would only add to have the right mentality when facing scary situations, which means to take care of your mental health, maybe see a therapist if you think you need to, so you have the mental strength to face these situations and benefit from them. I went face first on a lot of scary situations and sometimes it did more harm than good. Obviously you shouldn't use this as an excuse for endless avoidance behavior, but it's something that I think is worth working on.
