I’m a deputy, honestly it does have an impact. Coworkers know about it, people I come in contact with know about it, but honestly it doesn’t change much. I just do what I do and don’t take anything personal. I’ve been mocked or made fun of about it maybe 1-2 times but the person doing it were always in handcuffs so it didn’t really bother me much. There’s other deputies that I’ve found stutter too, once you learn to not focus too much on it you really can do whatever you want and not let it get in the way.
