Playing devil's advocate... maybe if celebrities were more open with their stutter there would be less of a stigma. In turn, we would see this example growing up and perhaps we wouldn't feel the need to hide it as much. I don't know about anyone else, but for me, hiding stuttering is an exhausting proposition.
