Being upfront about your stutter So I just started university recently and my stutter is at its worst right now, mostly due to stress and anxiety and all that. But I've recently been trying out announcing that I have a stutter, after I block in front of someone. I have a really hard time saying my name, so whenever I meet someone, I'll stutter like 90% of the time. After I stutter, I'll just let them know that I have a stutter and I'll usually include a joke like... "I have a bit of a speech impediment, and I'm not having a stroke or something." But yeah, this really helps to reduce the initial anxiety of being a covert stutterer and it just seems to get _it_ out of the way.
