Hi! I relate to you very closely and guess what, I’m in nursing school LOL! The one profession where you’re constantly talking & I also have had tons of customer service jobs where I constantly had to talk to people and was president of a bunch of organizations in college. And I literally felt the same way as you and still do at 24. In college this would result in me having people in my organization or at my job speak for me even though I knew what I wanted to say all because I’ve had a god awful stutter since I was about 4 or 5. It went away in middle school to high school, then flared up again once I hit college (very huge bummer). To be very honest, my advice would be to learn to accept it and talk anyway. A good way to practice is to talk to a stranger! Just start with “hi! How are you doing?” Be sure to speak slow and take a deep breath before speaking. If you feel like you can’t speak, don’t. If I physically feel myself having a hard time getting words out I just will not say anything. If you feel the immediate urge to speak, let it out!! regardless if you stutter or not. The more you talk I promise the more fluent you’ll hear yourself becoming. Another tip is DONT think about what you’re gonna say before you say it! It’ll cause you to stutter or block. You’re gonna be okay! 🩷 Remember your stutter will never define you! if you ever need to talk I’m always around!
