It's an interesting theory, but the problem with expecting pain when you stutter is it's only going to make you more afraid to stutter and therefore more afraid to speak. We already expect pain when we stutter in the form of shame, embarrassment, and hopelessness. snapping a rubber band might serve as a novelty distraction, but it wouldn't last :-/
