Some people are just willfully ignorant, and I bet everything that, thanks to their complete lack of empathy, they lead a miserable life. I had a teacher like that in high school. She maintained that the reason I stuttered was because I hadn't studied, so I had to literally memorize the lesson by heart (reciting the textbook word for word), stuttering through all of it, and then get a C- because I stuttered still. She refused to believe I had a disability. (And to clarify, my parents did not intervene--other times and another country. If that happened to my kids today I'd get that teacher fired).
