One of my biggest issues as a teenager... When I was younger I felt I had no control over my speaking. No control whatsoever! I would try and talk to people and would leave feeling defeated. I would also go to speech therapy and would be left thinking that nothing works. Because of this feeling I had assumed that the (severe) stutter I had would be with me forever. Even with my issues I thought I was speaking in autopilot. That there was nothing I could physically do to change my circumstances. Then when I was 16 I was able to gain some practical advice. To focus on my breathing and perform slow-rated speech. It was the first time I realised that there's methods we can use to change our speaking. From there I began to realise how speaking slowly, in time with my breathing, can positively impact me. Now I highly advocate for people to adopt slower speaking. Or at least, to convict to more controlled speaking through management of the breath. I highlight a few reasons why we should do this in a new video. You can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Fw3h1-c2io I appreciate everybody that checks out my channel. Definitely more to come! Would like to hear everybody's thoughts on this. :-)
