Speech competitions

Speech competitions Have anyone of you particpated in any speech competitions or declamation events or maybe debate competition , if so how was your experience doing it. Me , i ve never personally done a public speech since middle school , now im a senior , i wanna get good at this age about public speaking , i dont wanna be a 30 or 40 years old who cant stand up and deliver a speech. I wanna gain that skill and start practicing from young age. Can a person who stutters be a good public speaker or is it out of our reach ?
