TED Talk I just wanted to share a positive experience I had recently -- at my work, they had Diversity and Inclusion talks and asked for volunteers for the department. Another PWS and I prepared a talk that disclosed our own personal histories, explained what stuttering is, and bridged the experience to hidden diversity and how we all hide and cover qualities in some ways. I was super nervous to give the talk, it was in front of at least 100 people, but we got a ton of positive and encouraging words afterwards. It was this wave of support and empathy that just washed over us, it was kind of incredible. Before the talk, I was concerned that the topic wouldn't be taken seriously. But it really showed to me that people are generally empathetic and supportive about issues such as stuttering, and others viewed the journey of stuttering as a compelling narrative that highlighted the strength and resilience that we all have as people who stutter.
