You can't give up! Our tyrannical fluent overlords will never make it easy, but you can't pack it in. Life with a stutter is difficult but not impossible. Employers value results and will not care about the stutter as long as you can make it happen at work. When people get to know you they won't notice the stutter either. We'll never be the popular kids, but that doesn't mean we can live fulfilling lives. You're a human being, not a walking stutter, don't live that way.
