I agree with /u/hipsydoodle. If you don't already journal, it can be very good for you. IMO /u/hipsydoodle's comment is the best advice. /u/phznmshr makes an excellent point about running out of breath. I assume based on your lungs hurting, this pertains to you. Breathing is often an underlying part of our speech impediment. While I would have a block, my breathing would stop. When I final ran out of breath, I was forced to stop and try again. If you can address your breathing, you may find some measure of relief, if not improvement. In the speech therapy I received, breathing was one of the first things we focused on. It was foundational to achieving fluency. >deaf people using sign language they seem happy /u/EpicHamMan, I have to disagree. We don't see the pain others carry around. “Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor...I am Pagliacci.” Finally, /u/Happy_Standard3692... >besides being like a normal FUCKING person obviously Then work towards being like a normal person! For many, fluency is achievable. And even if your best efforts fall short, you'll likely improve your situation. I remember what it feels like to *know* that I would always stutter. When I recall my experiences as a child and teen, the trauma I experienced from stuttering still hurts all these years later. Today I know that I was wrong about always stuttering. I encourage you to seek help finding fluency. We're all here for you. If you need help getting started, just ask. In the USA, the American Institute for Stuttering is a good starting point.
