>*"I want to speak well I just feel like such a failure"* Failing doesn't mean you are a failure: Whether you think you can, or you think you can't - you're right! \[power of belief in shaping one's reality and achieving success\]. I think that failure is only the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently. \[view failure as a learning experience\]. If we instead, believe we can regardless of anticipation of failing (or worrying about past failures), then we are halfway there \[positive mindset to achieve success\]. Believing that we are a failure likely lowers our confidence unnecessarily, which makes it even more difficult to achieve our goals, such as becoming good at Spanish, an intellectual artist or traveling around the world. Reinforcing a mentality of helplessness is in my opinion what brought us in this situation. Instead of reinforcing it by diving into depression, it may be more effective to adopt a mindset that you don't care about the past. It seems that you justify a mindset of helplessness because e.g., you perceived the worst block while the teacher mentioned that she'll come back to you. However, it's an unhelpful attitude to apply depression to gain more discipline, in contrast, entering a situation with a negative depressed mindset will likely push people away reinforcing the vicious cycle, cultivating or promoting your feelings of guilt and shame which lowers your sense of self-worth even more. Reinforcing repetitive negative thinking in this way could lead to avoiding (1) taking risks, or (2) trying new things, (3) initiating positive changes, which will likely contribute to staggering missed opportunities for growth. Furthermore, it allows for easier activation towards pathways of (1) addiction, and (2) self-harm, (3) procrastination, (4) avoidance-behaviors, (5) being less tolerant against feeling overwhelmed, or paralyzed by anticipation fear, preventing you from taking action to improve your situation.
