New to this sub and I have a few questions First off, I have a stutter. I've had it for as long as I can remember. I'm bilingual and I stutter in both languages. Everyone I talk to knows I have a stutter. My first question is what is a covert stutter? I've seen that dropped a lot in this sub. To me, it seems like people who have a stutter that can basically live without stuttering. People are seeing this as a bad thing. If it were me, I'd love just to turn off my stutter. Life would be so much easier. Whenever I speak in public, I try to follow my predetermined steps and solutions so I stutter less. From what I've seen from this sub is that you guys preach "stutter pride". For me, I accepted that I stutter. My next step isn't to bask in my stutter and live life stuttering carefree. My goal is to work as hard as I can to live life with stuttering as little as possible. I see my stutter as being a possible hindrance in my professional career. I'm a college student so I'm working now to give my future employer confidence in my speech.
