My dad wasn’t understanding too I hardly convinced him to pay for my speech therapy. I wanted him to talk to a professional for all his concerns and when he did he stopped criticizing me and started supporting me. It also depends on the type of relationship you have with your brother. They’re known to be goofy with their sisters so I can’t say anything about that
