If I can add to this. OP, I agree that I wouldn’t choose to stutter. I’d get rid of it in a heartbeat if I could. BUT, I can say it’s given me more empathy to people with speech impediments (after all, who doesn’t feel alone when they speak abnormally), and it kind of acts like a built in asshole detector. I expect the occasional smile or giggle when talking with someone new (after all, it takes them off guard), but when a grown person wants to mock me, at least I know who I’m dealing with. And that can be pretty valuable.
