I was just like you this past summer. I do really well in school but I've never had a paying job before due to my fear of having to go through the phone and interview process. My mom finally started pressing me to send out applications so I said whatevs and did some online apps. McDonald's called first and I got lucky and didn't fuck up the initial call. You know those awesome phone calls where you just have to say "yeah... uh huh... yeah 'preciate it bye". However the interview was a total disaster. It was kind of funny, as soon as the guy caught on he was like, "you know, we are hiring for maintenance?" and I was like, yeah that sounds good...heh I ended getting a crew position and due to my stutter they put me on grill. What I do is do the non-talking jobs better than anyone else that way I am irreplaceable, because I sure can't do drive-thru... One thing I realized as I worked there and I think you have to realize is that these entry level places absolutely need you more than you need them. Fast food and to a lesser extent grocery stores have a high turnover rate and are almost always looking for more people (unless you are in a rich ass town or something). If you are not a druggie, lazy fuck or a murder convict, you are a shoe in. In the end what you gotta realize is that hey, stutterers gotta make money too. Stutters got bills to pay yo
